The Secret’s Out: It’s the Little Things

Big memories are often wrapped in small packages.

When it comes to guest favorites at the Main Street Inn, it’s often the little things that leave the biggest impressions.

The Details:

Every guest who walks through our 1885 front door notices something different. From the music drifting off the front porch as they arrive to the inevitable ‘it smells so good in here’ as soon as they step inside. Guests notice it right away. After all, it’s those little things that make us special. Some swoon over the crisp, lux linens that make “just one more snooze” irresistible. Others can’t stop talking about our coffee. YES, we French-press it fresh. YES, we deliver it to your door. And then there are those who light up at finding locally made soaps in their bath – because even lather should feel special. Guests talk about these small touches more than anything else at Main Street Inn

Guests always put breakfast on the favorites list. They gush over the homemade breads warm from the oven, seasonal standouts that highlight what’s fresh and local. Occasionally, an indulgence sparks a guestbook fan club all on its own That’s why, breakfast becomes the highlight of their stay. They linger at the table a little longer, savor just one more bite, and carry the memory home. In fact, some guests plan return visits just for breakfast

What surprises us most, though, are the quirky little details that somehow steal the show. Guests settle into the cozy porch rockers for people-watching, while personal touches greet them in each room. Guests often rave about the seamless ease of their stay… the behind-the-scenes touches like motion sensors and quiet automation that make everything feel effortless.

Every detail is thoughtfully designed to set the stage for their story.

The Star:

And of course, no list of guest favorites would be complete without Mr. Ray. Our resident bow‑tied boss has a talent for stealing the spotlight, whether he’s greeting guests on the porch or striking a pose for their cameras. He’s been known to patrol the porch like he owns the place (because, let’s be honest, he does) and charm even the most dog‑loving visitors into becoming instant fans. Let’s just say he knows how to make an impression – and he rarely misses his cue. For more of his porch-side wit and whiskered wisdom check out Journal Entry No. 5 – it’s loaded!

The Secret:

And here’s a little secret: many of those guest favorites don’t have to stay at the Inn. Our gift shop shelves are stocked with some of the same treasures… yes, you can order the very sheets you slept in, sip morning coffee from a Main Street Inn mug, and even recreate breakfast at home with recipes featured in the Stay INN the Heartland community cookbook, INN the Kitchen.

It turns out, those “small things” aren’t so small after all – they’re the very things that keep guests smiling long after checkout.
