Our Favorite Spots
Because the best recommendations are the ones we’d give our friends.
One of the most common questions we hear at the Inn is, “Where should we go?”
And while Parkville may be small, it has a delightful habit of exceeding expectations, quietly, casually, and often when you’re not looking for it. Parkville’s dining and shopping scene are a big part of that charm, best experienced one block at a time.
This is a town made for wandering. For lingering. For changing your mind halfway down the block because something in a window caught your eye or the smell of coffee pulled you in. It’s the kind of place where plans are optional and curiosity tends to lead the way.
What follows are our personal picks, the spots we genuinely love and regularly send guests toward when it comes to Parkville’s dining and shopping scene. Not because we’re “partnered,” not because they’re trendy, but because they feel like Parkville: welcoming, thoughtful, and worth your time.
(And if choosing where to eat, shop, or stroll is part of the fun – you’re in exactly the right place.)
Our Parkville Dining Favorites
Breakfast & Coffee
Yes, we know, you’re staying with us and our breakfast is unforgettable… but sometimes a walk deserves a second (or third) cup of coffee… or even a second breakfast (we won’t judge). For late-morning caffeine fixes or post-walk refuels, Parkville has a handful of cozy spots that do mornings right: good coffee, welcoming spaces, and menus that are happy to see you linger a little longer.
Lunch & Casual Bites
Midday in Parkville is perfect for popping in somewhere casual, whether you’re refueling between shops, lingering over conversation, or realizing you’re hungry again already (we know, it happens). Tacos, pizza, and easy bites are plentiful, but our favorite hidden stop is Kansas City Cattle Company. Their Texas Dog is amazing. Think… wagyu beef hot dog topped with candied jalapeños and bacon, yes, please.
It’s unexpected, unapologetically indulgent, and proof that lunch doesn’t always need to be sensible to be memorable.
Dinner & Evening Drinks
As the day winds down, Parkville leans fully into its growing reputation as a little foodie town. From the lively energy of Prima Facia to Parker Hollow, the new kid on the block, and spots perfect for a relaxed nightcap, there are plenty of great choices. But if we’re being honest, our hearts belong to Café des Amis.
It’s warm, inviting, and effortlessly charming, the kind of place that turns dinner into an experience. The menu is bold and seasonal, the atmosphere is intimate, perfect for slow conversation. Somehow, it always feels like exactly where you’re supposed to be that night.
Local Shops & Boutiques We Love
Shopping here isn’t about checking items off a list, it’s about discovery especially when it comes to Parkville’s dining and shopping scene.
Parkville’s local shops are the kind you wander into “just to look” and realize, about ten minutes later, that you’re still there. Shelves layered with detail. Corners that reward a second glance. Displays you somehow missed the first time around, even though you were sure you’d seen everything. More often than not, we find ourselves doing two or three laps through a boutique just to take it all in. Not because we’re indecisive, but because there’s always something new to notice, a texture, a color, a story tucked into the corner of the room.
One up-and-coming favorite is Style & Stitch, a shop that feels fresh, thoughtful, and right at home among Parkville’s mix of long-time favorites. It’s the kind of place that rewards a second pass, and sometimes a third.
Thoughtfully curated boutiques, specialty stores, and small businesses line Main Street, and just off it, too, making it easy to support local and enjoy the process while you’re at it.
(Fair warning: strolling, and circling back, may take longer than planned.)
The Riverfront – At Your Own Pace
One of Parkville’s best features is how seamlessly nature fits into town life. Here, stepping outside doesn’t mean planning a hike or packing gear. It means following a tree-lined street, catching a glimpse of the river between buildings, or letting a shaded path pull you along just a little farther than you intended.
Parkville is especially known for its riverfront park, where looping paths make it easy to choose your own pace. Whether you’re in the mood for a quick lap or a longer wander, the trails along the river never disappoint.
These are the kind of walks where you might start out with a plan, then slow down to watch the water, feel the breeze, and let the loop carry you just a little farther than expected.
Whether it’s a quiet morning walk before the day gets going or a golden-hour stroll as the light softens and the town settles in, fresh air comes standard here. No car required, just comfortable shoes and a little extra time.
What Guests Should Never Miss
If there’s one thing we hope guests take away from Parkville, it’s this:
Slow down.
Sit a little longer. Walk one more block. Pop into the shop you weren’t planning on. Order dessert. Watch the river. Let the town set the pace.
Parkville rewards curiosity, and those unplanned moments often become the ones guests talk about long after they’ve gone home.
